- 22 metre band — 43 frequencies, 217 stations. A daylight band, dependable when solar activity is high and quiet when it is not.
- 19 metre band — 118 frequencies, 657 stations. A strong daytime band for long-distance broadcasting, at its best around the peak of the solar cycle.
- 16 metre band — 63 frequencies, 265 stations. Daylight long-haul. Open when the ionosphere is well ionised, and closed shortly after dark.
- 13 metre band — 23 frequencies, 44 stations. A high shortwave band that only opens when solar flux is high. When it does, signals travel very far on modest power.
- 11 metre band — 22 frequencies, 32 stations. The highest broadcast band, usable mainly at solar maximum. It sits next to the citizens band used for short-range voice traffic.
